For removals and storage
Google Business Profile Support for Removal Companies
People planning a move often search for removal companies weeks in advance, comparing reviews, photos and whether you offer storage. Many removal firms operate from a depot or yard, which raises questions about how the address should appear. If your Google Business Profile is suspended or unverified, we can help you understand why.

Why it matters
Why the profile matters for removal firms
Illustrative. Outcomes are decided by Google.
Moving home is stressful, and people are handing over everything they own. Customers want to see genuine reviews, real vehicles and signs that a firm is established and careful. Your Google Business Profile often shows all of that in one place. When it disappears or loses its reviews from view, a family choosing between several quotes may simply pick a firm they can see clearly.
Removal companies have a distinctive setup. Many run from a depot, yard or storage facility, sometimes on an industrial estate. Some welcome customers there to view storage, while others only use it for vehicles and crates. Long distance and international moves can also tempt firms to list areas far beyond their base. Getting the address and service area right is central to a compliant, stable profile.
Common issues
Common profile problems for removal companies
Depot shown when customers do not visit
Showing a yard address publicly is only appropriate if customers can visit during staffed hours. Otherwise, a hidden address with a service area may be the correct setup.
Profiles in cities without a depot
Creating listings in cities you move people to, without a staffed location there, is against the guidelines and can lead to suspension across several profiles.
Moving and storage split badly
Running separate profiles for removals and storage at the same site can be treated as duplicates. How to handle this depends on how the services genuinely operate.
Review drops after suspension
While a profile is suspended, reviews may not show to customers. That can hit bookings during busy periods and adds pressure to resolve the issue carefully.
Getting the setup right
Depots, storage and service areas for removal firms
If customers can visit your depot or storage facility during staffed hours, and it has permanent signage, it may be appropriate to show that address and also add a service area for the places you move people from. If the yard is only used for vehicles and is not open to customers, a service-area profile with the address hidden is usually the better fit.
The service area should reflect where you collect from and work regularly, rather than every destination you have ever driven to. Google suggests the service area should not generally extend more than about two hours' drive from your base. Genuine additional depots that are staffed and signed may be eligible for their own profiles. We can review your sites and explain which setup is likely to fit.
Verification and appeals
Evidence that may help removal companies
Evidence should be genuine, current and consistent with your profile. What is relevant depends on the case.
- Photos of liveried vans and lorries showing your business name
- Depot or storage signage, with the entrance and surroundings visible
- Lease, business rates bill or utility bill for the depot
- Goods in transit or public liability insurance in the business name
- Customer invoices or booking confirmations under your trading name
- Trade association membership, where you genuinely hold one

FAQs
Questions from removal companies
Should my removal company show the depot address on Google?
It depends on whether customers can visit it. If the depot is staffed during your listed hours and has permanent signage, showing it may be appropriate. If it is purely an operational yard, Google's guidelines point towards hiding the address and setting a service area. The deciding factor is how customers actually interact with the site.
We do long distance moves. Can we list every city we move people to?
Your service area should reflect where you genuinely serve customers, usually around where you are based and collect from. Google suggests it should not generally extend beyond about two hours' drive. You can still describe national or long distance moves in your description and services, without listing distant cities as service areas.
Can we have separate profiles for removals and self storage?
Google generally expects one profile per business at a location. If removals and storage are distinct operations with separate customer facing entrances, staff or branding, the position may differ. This is a detailed judgement, so we would review how each part of the business genuinely operates before suggesting a setup.
What happens to our reviews if the profile is suspended?
While a profile is suspended, it and its reviews may not be visible to customers. If the profile is later reinstated, the reviews typically return with it, although Google does not promise this. This is one reason we suggest appealing the existing profile rather than creating a new one, which would start without any reviews.
